Yue Shi Architecture and Design

The house is situated alongside a park with a huge backyard facing south. By extending the existing pitch roof and introducing a decent loft space on the second level, the house has been upgraded to a 6-bedroom modern mansion with an interesting rear garden.

The challenge was how to bring more natural lights into the house while maximising the depth and width of the space. Skylights and light wells are introduced at right place to allow natural lights travelling through centre staircase, living room and the loft space.  Rooms are bridged at the loft level with an open hallway crossing underneath, this creates an interesting spatial experience while walking up and down.

The garden design aims to create smooth transition between exterior and interior, where wooden decking is considerable applied to extend the surface outwards. A large lawn sits in the middle of the garden with pebble grounds as buffer zones between the decking and the grass. Stainless steel pond lay on the pebbles opening another dimension with the reflection.
